As students move into computer-based standardized testing, they will need to be able to respond to a short audio or video program, take notes, and provide information on what they hear and see by answering critical thinking questions. In order to help my students to meet this challenge, I have searched the internet for high-interest podcasts and videos that can be consumed within a class period or a respectable homework time. These videos and podcasts also serve as a springboard for other important ELA activities and investigations within the classroom. Podcast and video activities can be completed with or without a teacher present (meaning they make excellent sub plans and homework!).
This easy-prep lesson includes:
* A suggested lesson procedure for the teacher as well as a video link
* A three-page handout with questions that apply to the video and then questions that extend the information from the video to the students' independent reading
* An answer key
This lesson is created for students in grades 7-12 and is designed to take roughly 40 minutes if done together as a class and 25-30 minutes if done independently.
