Tired of students flipping bottles in class? Use it to your advantage! Add a fitness component!
This is a PE activity that I used in PE. We talked about the physics behind the water bottle flip, as well as practicing the skill, all while hiding fitness.
I used a PowerPoint to introduce and explain the rules. Included is the PowerPoint, Partner Flip Challenge, and Relay Race materials.
Students completed 3 activities:
1) Station Work - students practiced flipping the bottle while standing, squatting, laying on stomach, push-up position, exploration, and trick shot
2) Game 1 - Partner Flip Challenge - Students are 3 of the positions above and have to complete a designated fitness repetition (1 squat, etc.) each if they both miss the bottle flip. Winner moves up a level, Opponent moves down a level and find a new partner.
3) Game 2 - Students complete a relay race that includes bottle flipping and fitness
