Match-Ups (3 pages): These cards are meant to be printed on cardstock and laminated for durability. They can be used for a Mix-Match activity, where the students walk around finding the members of their triad. They can also be used as an anchor station activity. An answer key for self checking is included.
Word Sort (+ answer key): In this closed word sort the categories are defined. It requires critical thinking.
Find Someone Who (+ answer key): This is an active lesson, it gives students the opportunity to move, discuss their understanding, and practice the words.
Tree Maps (2 pages): These maps encourage critical thinking. Students are asked to think about words in new ways.
List - Group - Label (2 pages): This is a brainstorming activity. Students list all of the words they can think of to go with a concept or word. The words are then sorted into groups of related ideas. Students label the groups to show the relationships.
Alphaboxes Pair Square (1 page): After discussion and/or reading on a topic, students write words in all the boxes that relate to the vocabulary word, trying to find at least one word for each letter of the alphabet. The discussion in this activity is a key component for learning.
3-2-1 Exit Slip (1 page): This is a chance to assess student understanding and comfort with the vocabulary. It should be used as a formative assessment during instruction.
