I have included two sets of cards. One set has a question and a QR code which will lead them to a website where they will read an article to find the answer. I use this set as a learning activity when we first begin learning about thunderstorms.
The second set just has a question. If I didn’t use the 1st set, then I use this set as a review for after the unit. Or I use the second set as a learning activity and have them do their own research to locate answers.
Differentiate by giving the 1st set to students that need a little extra help locating answers. Give the 2nd set to those students that need to be challenged.
An answer recording sheet and answer key are included as well as QR answer cards. These allow students to check their own answers. Each answer card has a QR code that will show the correct answer. I ask my students to use a regular pencil when answering the questions. When they are ready to check them, I have them switch to a colored pencil or erasable pen and write any corrected answers on the back of their page. I like to see their first answer, but you could just have them erase and correct.
If you choose to let your students self check, they will need a Smart device with a QR code reader. These can be downloaded for free from any app store. In our room, we use ipads, nooks, tablets, and ipod touches. My students LOVE using the QR code readers!
