It's that time fun in the sun time of year!!! Who doesn't love a good water fight?
This simple but fun game is designed for your short articulation or fluency sessions (5-10 minutes) leading up to summer...although it can also be used for longer sessions, too. In fact, it can be used for any drill type of skill that students need a little motivation to complete!
Just set a timer and begin drilling any skill (completing math facts, reading sight words, answering questions, saying articulation targets, using fluency strategies, etc. After your student says completes the given task to your liking (3 times, 5 times, etc) allow him/her to pick a card. If it’s a WATER FIGHT card he/she gets to keep it. If it’s one of the wild cards, follow the directions on the card. When the timer rings, the child with the most WATER FIGHT cards wins! If your student is working on /w/, vocalic r, /f/ or /t/, have your students just say "water fight!"
As an alternate way to play (that incorporates spontaneous connected speech), challenge students to describe or make a sentence about the card they pick while using their best speech.
* 25 colorful water fight themed cards and 5 wild cards
* an optional list of summer themed words for drill sorted by phoneme
Just print, cut, & play (laminate for durability). No wasted paper
