This file includes posters for 22 vocabulary words related too water distribution and ocean floor features. Vocabulary words are listed below. This is perfect for middle school Earth Science and would work wonderfully for a word wall. (a list of the words can be found below the product description.)
I teach ESOL science and these posters help tremendously with supporting academic vocabulary with simple definitions and pictures.
Each poster is on 1/2 a page, with 2 words per page.
How to use them:
- I print mine on regular 8.5x11 paper, cut the pages in half by word, and hang them on the wall by unit. By the time all units have been covered, your classroom wall will have turned in to a dynamic word wall with words, definitions, and pictures.
- You can also print multiple pages per sheet to make smaller flash cards for students.
- You can also print them on card stock, cut the words separate from the definitions, and have students match them up.
What you are getting:
Each poster includes the word in large font, a simple definition, and related images. Some images are "scientific", such as examples of minerals for the words cleavage & fracture, while others are more simple to support the definition, such as a pie chart for the word composition. Some images are used for multiple words. For example, a diagram of the ocean floor is used for continental shelf, slope, and rise.
The words included are:
water cycle, evaporation, condensation, precipitation, transpiration, runoff, infiltration, fresh water, salt water, aquifer, groundwater, surface current, tide, continental shelf, continental slope, continental rise, mid-ocean ridge, seamount, volcanic island, subduction, ocean trench, rift valley
