Keep your students safe this summer!!
Water safety is so important to teach to students before they leave for summer breaks! Drowning is in the top 4 causes for accidental deaths for children under the age of 10 in our country. Why not teach them about it in a fun and engaging way?
This 14 slide Powerpoint presentation has background information table to show students how dangerous water can be so that they can visualize how important it is to follow safety rules.
It also has another video link that tells students the importance of "throw- don't go" in event of wanting to help someone in danger. It emphasizes the importance of use of safety jackets as well as the basic rules of water safety. Students are encouraged to take lessons to learn how to swim.
Additionally, a link to the Timon & Pumba " Water Safety Smart" 10 minute video (actually 2 videos- one to teach and one to review the rules) that is EXCEPTIONALLY good is included.
As a special treat, the Danger Rangers' video "Water Safety" is included. It is 28 minutes long, but I suggest that you only use the first 13 minutes.
The PowerPoint is customizable and includes notes to support you in your lesson including questions and ideas for presentation. The presentation includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
