Students are given 4 mystery water samples to identify based on the residue left on glass slides after evaporation. The procedure that student's use to identify the water samples is completely described. The result table is provided and can be offered as a stand-alone assessment or can be incorporated into a students lab notebook. There is also a short writing section for students to write about what they learned.
