This activity allows YOU to CHOOSE to difficulty and pedagogical strategy. May be used across many grades and with students of widely varied ability and past performance levels.
-River feature diagram (primary river, tributaries, source, floodplain, meanders, mouth, delta, and lake/ocean).
-Complete river system breakdown with features categorized as young, mature, old, or very old. Features include precipitation, lakes, glaciers, rapids, waterfalls, tributaries, flood plain, oxbow lakes, salt marsh, delta, deposited sediment, ocean, source zone, transition zone (mature), and floodplain zone.
-Main watersheds of the United States (cutouts): Colorado, Columbia, Missouri, Upper Mississippi, Lower Mississippi, Rio Grande, Ohio, St. Lawrence, Susquehanna, and Arkansas-White-Red.
-Main watersheds of the United States and their tributaries (traced and colored with legend construction).
-Assessment prompts and Google Earth images. Content includes major and minor watersheds, divides, base level, and geography.
-Identification of the following watersheds: Columbia, Colorado, Rio Grande, Mississippi, St. Lawrence/Great Lakes, Susquehanna, Brazos, Mobile Bay, Delaware, and Pee-Dee.
-In depth analysis of watershed identification and mapping focused upon tributaries.
