Teach students how to create depth and dimension in their painting with this watercolor value lesson.
This lesson takes students through the two ways to build values in their paintings, through layering techniques and blending techniques. Students create a value strip using the layering techniques and an abstract value composition using the blending technique.
Once this is mastered students apply their skill to a final painting using reference of their choosing. Lesson has students grid reference and create a value sketch. They learn to create transparency with watercolor by using only black paint and water to create value ranges.
This lesson includes a 28 page PowerPoint Presentation with student process photographs and student examples and a student evaluation for assessment.
