This is a 6 page handout that includes several watercolour exercises, developing leaf paintings, and leads up to creating a botanical watercolour wreath with a quote.
Image examples are included in the handout.
I did variations of this unit with my grade 9 and 10 students, and I was happy with the results. I found some students had almost no knowledge of working with watercolours and some had some basic knowledge. This lets students start off making shapes, and build up their knowledge from there, but experienced students can enjoy this unit as well. I think it would work with middle years and high school students.
There are a total of 4 watercolour painting activities/assignments, and one page for developing ideas for the botanical wreath.
A marking rubric for the final part of this handout is included as well.
This set of assignments is about a week's worth of painting/classroom time (based on hour long classes).
