Welcome back to school! This time of year for me means pulling out my watermelon unit! “Watermelon?” you may ask yourself? Why? Well, watermelon is a fun topic at the end of the summer to help your students (and you) get to know each other, practice basic skills, and engage in some hands on activities.
This unit includes:
-A Name learning activity
-Watermelon KWL sheet and pieces
-Watermelon Web sheet and pieces
-Watermelon Can/Have/Are Sheet and pieces
-Reading activities for the books: Watermelon Day, The Enormous Watermelon, Down by the Bay, and Peter Spit a Seed at Sue.
-Printable readers for kindergarten and first grade
-Song lyrics (Down by the Bay)
-Two class book writing activities
-Graphing data sheet after eating watermelon
-Watermelon art activity.
These activities will keep your new kids engaged, learning, and working hard on the new skills you are teaching them!
