In this two-day lab, students will explore how light and sound waves travel through media. Perfect for middle school! You can use this to introduce topics such as transverse and longitudinal waves, reflection, refraction, lenses, transparent, translucent, opaque, and resonance.

Materials each group will need:
-Flashlight
-Mirror
-Protrator
-Two Convex Lenses (one thin, one thick)
-Your choice of various objects that are an assortment of transparent, translucent, and opaque
-Two Tuning Forks (one small, one large)
-String
-Meter Sticks
-Container to hold water

*Note: Two reading articles are mentioned in this lab from a textbook. You may use any other articles of your own finding, or allow students to research for themselves. l
