My students completed a wax museum project in which they read a biography about a historical person of their choice. Then, they created several pieces such as a stamp, a portrait, gathering artifacts having to do with the person, and designing a costume to wear. Students then put all the pieces together on a tri-fold board and set up their boards, in costume, in the gym. Lower grades of the school then visited the wax museum with their classes. Students recited a short memorized speech whenever someone pushed their button, which we made pop up out of construction paper.
In this packet is a rubric, a guide for the students for the report, a permission slip to go home before the project begins, a paper for students to record their first, second, and third choices of their person when choosing in whole group, a calendar of the due dates, a guide for the bibliography, and an information gathering sheet for students to take notes during their research.
Enjoy! Please make adjustments for your class. The Wax Museum was so much to do! And students loved learning about their person in their research and then "becoming" that person for a day.
