Finding nonfiction texts at an appropriate level for kindergarten guided reading groups is a difficult (and often expensive!!) task. With the increased expectation of kindergarteners reading nonfiction texts based on the Common Core Standards, it is crucial that teachers have access to leveled nonfiction books that their students can read (and want to read!!) With that thought in mind, I have created this book (and will be creating many more!!)
This book is written at an approximate level B. This book follows a predictable pattern to support beginning readers.
The text in this book follows this pattern:
Here is a _____. You can go in/on a ___________.
The following types of transportation are included in the book: car, truck, bike, bus, airplane, boat, ship, and balloon.
On the last page, the pattern changes.
On the last page, the text says:
Here is a balloon.
You can go up
in a balloon.
Up! Up! Up!
This book includes the same text on both the top and bottom of each sheet of paper to make copying, sorting, stapling, and cutting easy to create a class set of little books!!
