I used this as an extension to an anti-bullying topic we were discussing in my second grade classroom. The students had been discussing how people are all different and special in their own way. That we should never judge a person by what they look like on the outside, but by how they treat others. We also talked about how even though people are different, we have things in common and share similar feelings.
This creative writing piece allowed them to think about their own similarities and differences between themselves and their classmates. It also let them practice writing multiple paragraphs.
This includes two graphic organizers (includes a hook to grab the readers attention, four supporting details, and a conclusion), writing paper, and a cover if you want to turn it into a classroom book.
