Welcoming a new group of students into your classroom entails a lot of conversation about rules. Reading David Shannon's, David Goes to School, is an engaging way for students to see a student making choices that are not so great, and then provides the perfect opportunity to discuss the rules in the classroom to help make the right choices.
This "craftivity" is the perfect follow up to learning rules at the beginning of the school year. Students are challenged to think about the rules, consider one in particular that they will try their best to follow, and then make a promise to remember not to make choices like David. Whether you are teaching general classroom rules, carpet time rules, hallway rules, technology use rules, or all of the above, this activity focuses students on right compared to wrong.
