Students should have read through chapter six for this activity to be applied to the novel, but this article can be used to evaluate any character as a sociopath or psychopath.
In this activity, students should be assigned into small groups to discuss which characters demonstrate sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies. Each group can evaluate a character or each group can discuss the same character. At the end of class, each group shares the work.
Students really have fun with this activity because they get the chance to profile a character. A great lead into this lesson could be a clip from Law & Order, or another crime show, that shows a suspect being profiled. You could also engage in a discussion about other characters your class studied in between reading the article and their group work.
