(From HistoryChic's Treasure Trove)
This Keynote presentation, created for AP World History Unit 5 (1750 CE to 1900 CE), uses a number of works of art while simultaneously giving students the basics on the South American Revolutions (including Simon Bolivar), an essential topic to cover for the AP World History exam. It also discusses the concept of basic human rights and ties these to the revolutions, which helps students to develop empathy for the topic and thus care more. At the end, the lesson ties in the American Civil Rights movement, which can generate some great discussions. You could also use this presentation in a non-AP history course or in an art history course.
Be sure to have your students attempt to analyze and discuss the many pieces of art, in order to get the most out of this lesson. There are effective discussion questions in here as well, which can be discussed as a class, in small groups, or in partners. Get those students talking!
Please Note: If you do not have a Mac, you will NOT be able to use this presentation. You have to be able to run Keynote to run this.
