This project is an engaging way for 4-9 + graders to hear first-hand accounts from adults who lived through September 11, 2001.
I have used it successfully for years with my seventh grade students. Each year, I am amazed how little these kids know about an event so pivotal in our adult lives! This interview is a powerful way to teach kids about this event, as well as teach them note-taking and interview skills.
Other than an adult to interview, and a computer to type the completed interview notes (optional), everything you need to do this project is right here.
Note: You can do this project the week before 9/11 or after, or really any time of the year.
Here is what you will get with this product:
*A suggested schedule to complete this project and lesson plan ideas.
*Ideas of how to introduce this project and give kids background information about 9/11 before they conduct the interview.
*How to do a role-play of an interview “live” in front of your classes- this is crucial for success!
*How to teach kids the importance of asking follow-up questions in an interview. The secret is in the-role play you will do!
