(11 pages) Three activities are included. The first activity is a simple hands-on scale model to help students envision hurricane size. In the second and third activities, students are to plot hurricane frequency data. Part 1 examines hurricane frequency per year over a span of fifty years. Part 2 examines hurricane frequency per month during the hurricane season (June 1 - November 30). Student analysis of hurricane frequency data over 50 years can help them answer some common questions people have about hurricanes. For example:
How many hurricanes usually form each hurricane season?
What month(s) have the most hurricanes?
Does the data show any changes in hurricane frequency over time?
(Also - per special request - a map for west coast friends is included)
