This vocabulary activity includes a short introduction and 4 organizers.
Short introduction: hurricane formation and hurricane hazards.
1: storm categories with definition, images, and graphical symbols as seen on television.
2. National Hurricane Center terminology that includes definitions and images. Saffir-Simpson scale, cone of uncertainty, best track, and landfall.
3. Hurricane watch and warning hazards: sustained winds, storm surge, and flooding.
4. Saffir-Simpson Scale: description, damage assessments, and images for category 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 storms.
Very special cut and paste, Smartboard, or Velcro and laminate activity that challenges many learners based on how the information is presented. The instructor decides the difficulty!
This works well for any level but is GREAT for special education students or college prep learners that need an alternative assessment and may not be great at traditional labs.
