To do: Print each circle onto colored oak-tag and laminate for durability (for example, blue oak-tag for raindrops, yellow for suns, etc.). Attach to a pointer stick, ruler, or pencil. Included are 4 sets of weather themed upper and lower case letters: Suns, Rain drops, Snowflakes, and Clouds.
What to do with the letter pointers?
Go on a Letter Hunt: Use the letter pointers during a “read” the room type activity where students look around the room to find items that begin with their letter. For example, for letter “A” kids might find a picture of an apple, animal, etc. For older or higher level students, they can find words that begin with the letter “A” so instead of finding objects or pictures they are only finding words.
Circle Time: After you read from a big book or poem, have students find a letter that matches their pointer, this is great for building letter recognition.
Word Walls: You can also use the letters for decoration or for your word wall.
Hope this helps!
