NO-PREP PowerPoint!! Cut the hassle out of preparing this tedious lesson! I am confident you will find this a valuable resource! Check for understanding questions are embedded throughout the presentation to ensure student mastery!
I start off with a hook, showing students images and a clip about Typhoon Trami that hit Taiwan in 2013. Students then learn about the role of meteorologists and the weather instruments that they use. From there students focus on air masses, and what results from high pressure systems and low level systems as well as how to identify them on a weather map.
Once students master this topic, they move on to fronts, learning what a storm front is and differentiating between a cold front, warm front, and stationary front. Students also learn how to identify these on a weather map prior to a second check for understanding.
The final portion of this PPT are weather symbols/weather map key. Students learn how to identify wind intensity, precipitation, temperature, as well as cloud coverage. Students once again follow this up with practice questions!
