Classroom teachers may use this Smart Notebook during calendar time, allowing students to drag the appropriate icon to their state on the map.
Music teachers may use this file to practice/assess solo singing. While class sings a weather song, one student, the weather person, selects a weather graphic and drags it to an area on the weather map. At the appropriate time in the song, the weather person sings alone announcing the weather.
Weather icons are infinite clones. The blue arrow button is a link to the next page and will function as a "reset" between students. Clone the weather map page as many times as necessary for multiple student turns.
While song files are not included, several suggestions for piggyback weather songs suitable for early childhood classrooms as well as music classrooms are included. Lyrics for these songs are attached in a PDF file for easy printing.
With the proliferation of interactive whiteboards in our classrooms today, the big screens give students an opportunity to stand in front of a large map just like the TV weather person. This "real-world" activity is engaging, makes the act of singing alone non-threatening, and provides a great assessment opportunity for music teachers.
