The overarching goal of this lesson is to teach students about the various ways that meteorologists gather data regarding the weather. This fits into the ‘ bigger picture’ because it will help all students to understand how we have come to know all we do about Warm Fronts, Cold Fronts, Cloud Types etc, while also giving students the skills necessary to recognize different weather terms when they hear about them in the news. Students need recognize weather terms, as well as understand the ways that we gather our weather data. This will allow them to better understand the specifics of weather reporting and the means by which we collect this data
As a result of this lesson:
-Students will be able to identify the different ways that we collect weather data, and/or predict weather data:
-Students will be able to identify weather-specific terms used in reporting
-Students will be able to use knowledge of this data collection and these terms in order to predict the weather themselves.
