This weather unit is designed to fit the needs of kindergarten science standards.
Big Ideas include:
Change happens to many things in the environment and can be observed by our senses.
Weather changes from day to day and through out the year.
Seasons occur in a particular order and have their own weather pattern.
Weather can be measured.
We dress for the weather to protect ourselves.
In this unit students will observe, record, investigate and create as they study weather and subtopics including temperature and measuring temperature, wind and measuring wind, rain, measuring rain, clouds, and dressing appropriately. Students will keep a journal to record their findings and be able to discuss ideas and findings about each topic. Students will also show their understanding using a unit pre-assessment and post assessment. Included are posters and vocabulary cards to aid in teaching. The materials in this packet are for recording student thinking and not necessarily scripted lessons. I think you will enjoy using your own teaching creativity with these ready-to-use materials. Enjoy!
