Hi and thanks for looking at this weather around the world geography lesson bundle! The unit is based on world geography and weather but also incorporates science, ELA (persuasive writing), math (data handling) and computing.
There are five lessons in this bundle which should take around 1hr – 1 1/2 hours to complete each. Each lessons is set out with a focus, introduction, input, activity (all resources included), plenary and a resource list so with a little printing, you should be ready to go. The five lessons are:
~ the three climatic zones (polar, temperate and tropical zones) and the weather related to each zone;
~ weather in tourist destinations (sun, ski etc.) and how to prepare for the weather in these places;
~ comparing weather to a home location noting similarities and differences;
~ weather on vacation which includes persuasive writing and designing a holiday advert; and,
~extreme weather (hurricanes, tornadoes etc.) and how to stay safe.
Please have a look at the preview file to see how these lessons and resources are set out.
In most lessons, I make use of the computers and the internet by showing videos (links provided) or by setting activities where children need to research information. If you don’t have access to PCs/laptops/tablets in your class, this information can still be easily printed off and distributed as hand-outs.
I really hope you find this lesson bundle time-saving and useful and that your class enjoy learning about weather around the world. If you like it, I have similar geography and history based units on my store.
Thanks and enjoy,
