This lab is a quick activity that will help students solidify their understanding of how weathering breaks materials down. In the lab, students will "weather" a gobstopper and track their observations of how the gobstopper changes as it gets weathered. Students will love the opportunity to eat candy in class, all the while learning what weathering is!
There are two copies of the lab sheet on the page (less copies for you to make!). The sheet includes a chart where students can track their observations of how the gobstopper changes at each time checkpoint. At the bottom are three questions that will guide students' thinking to make connections between the lab and the concept of weathering.
