This is a QR Sort based activity that focuses on the different forces of weathering, erosion, and deposition.
For the activity, I generally have students in groups of 2-4 and print off group copies of the QR codes, cut them and half, and this way you will have a sort. Students will need to match the description of the different weather, erosion, and deposition forces (water, ice, gravity, etc) with what part of W.E.D. it belongs to. When it is correct the QR code will scan and it will confirm that they are correct.
For assessments, there is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they are completing the sort, and there is also a 10 question assessment over the different examples given in the sort and what the different aspects of W.E.D. mean. Answer Keys are included.
There are 15 total different sort cards. There are 6 weathering cards, 5 erosion, and 4 deposition. All of the weathering QR codes are the same, all of the erosion QR codes are the same, and all of the deposition QR codes are the same in order to ensure that when students are matching the QR codes they do not need to have the exact same concept with the force. This prevents confusion and frustration from students.
This makes for a great way to assess comprehension after a lesson or use them independently in science centers.
