Product Description

Students will participate in hands-on activities and close reading of a nonfiction article to learn about weathering and erosion. This resource is aligned with the NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas: Earth Materials and Systems and The Role of Water in Earth's Surface Processes.

This resource is designed to meet the standard for NGSS Earths Systems:

MS-ESS2-2. Construct an explanation based on evidence for how geoscience processes have changed Earth’s surface at

varying time and spatial scales

And the Utah SEEd

Standard 7.2.2 Construct an explanation based on evidence for how processes have changed Earth’s surface at varying time and spatial scales.

This resource also aligns with Utah Core 5th Grade Standard 2

Students will understand that volcanoes, earthquakes, uplift, weathering, and erosion reshape Earth's surface. (Note to Utah 5th Grade Teachers, I would only suggest this unit if your students are advanced readers, otherwise I would suggest my othering weathering unit in which the text passages are more appropriate for elementary education)
