The overarching goal of this lesson is to teach students about how earth’ s cycles such as weathering and erosion are connected to the nutrient cycles and how soil is formed. This fits into the ‘ bigger picture’ because it will help all students to connect how rocks and minerals are formed to how they are broken down.
Objectives: As a result of this lesson:
Students will be able to describe and give examples of ways in which the earth’ s surface is built up and torn down by natural processes including weathering and erosion.
Students will be able to explain how these natural processes such as rock formation and deposition of sediments connect to soil and the breakdown of material.
Students will be able to discuss the different types of natural cycles that occur on earth.
