This project combines the third grade standards for rocks, weathering and erosion, geography and math.
Students get to "travel" along to different famous U.S. rock monuments and decide whether they were man-made or naturally formed sites.
The product comes with a separate document with websites where students can explore the monuments to investigate whether they are natural or man-made.
Then they must use rounding and addition skills to figure out the total distance they traveled.
The file contains a more challenging version as well where students learn to use a map scale to convert the inches to miles traveled before they round and add.
Last, when they are done, they have to answer geography questions as well.
The document is a Word File so you can edit as needed.
