Product Description
Piles of glittering gold nuggets. Average people going from broke to unimaginably rich overnight. Gold rushes still capture students’ imaginations. But how did Seattle of all places come to be considered the “gateway” to the Klondike gold rush happening nearly two thousand miles away in the Yukon?

In this webquest students will learn about Erastus Brainerd’s great advertising campaign through which he linked Seattle and the Far North in people’s minds the world over. Students will also explore propaganda techniques and practice applying them to design an advertising campaign to boost their own city’s economy.

This listing includes a student handout, an answer key, and a rubric.
