In this webquest, students are 'traveling' to Mexico city, and have to research two restaurants through Spanish-language websites. Each student adopts a traveling persona with a dietary restriction (gluten free, vegan, children), They then use google maps to find a restaurant in their price range, find the restaurant site, and write down information about the restaurant, including meal, deserts, name, phone, etc...
Once the students have found two restaurants, they then create a dialogue where they make a reservation at that restaurant.
Finally students write metro or walking directions to the restaurant from their hotel.
This is a comprehensive activity that requires use of a computer, and allow practice:
----interpretation of food vocabulary in real context
--- map usage
---- vocabulary and grammar for formal speech and reservations
---- use of mandatos for giving directions
---- interpretation of directions.
This is challenging, but fun for the students. I often have to assign a portion of the activity for homework, and share in groups the following day, as students like talking about food.
Best used for Spanish 2, 3, 4 and can be used with Realidades 3 3a.
