Great for teaching organizational skills!
This holiday edition of my Weekly Assignment Sheet is what I would call "subtly festive," without being distracting. It is the same as the Weekly Assignment Sheet in Color
, but with five different holiday color themes at the top. The rest of the page is the same: a distraction-free place where students can focus on keeping track of their homework assignments, even during the week before a holiday.
Students record their own assignments, you check them before they go home, and parents can clearly see what you've assigned each day. Clear communication all around! There's even a space where students can check off the assignment when they finish!
I made this assignment page available in black and white for free (see Weekly Assignment Sheet
), but the color versions have these additional benefits: (1) students can find this paper more easily in their folders; and (2) you can see from a distance whether students have the correct paper out.
When I use this assignment page with my students, I use a different color each week, so I can see at a glance that each student is using the correct week's assignment sheet. You can use these holiday pages the week before (or week of) a holiday.
Colors in this set are:
-Orange and purple (for Halloween)
-Brown and orange (for Thanksgiving)
-Green and Red/white stripes (for Christmas)
-Red and pink (for Valentine's Day)
-Green and gold (for St. Patrick's Day)
Writing down their own assignments helps students take ownership of their work and teaches them study skills. It's totally worth the couple of minutes it takes each day!
