This packet has several uses:
SPELLING PROGRAM: It can be used as a weekly spelling program. There are 4 sight words and 2 rimes each week, with 13 different activities to choose from for engaging practice. Choose a few different activities each day. You don’t have to use every activity every week. Rotate them so the students don’t get bored. There is a spelling test recording sheet that can be used on Fridays to assess how well the students are learning the words. There is a dictation part which will show you if the knowledge is being transferred. There are 4 review weeks which can be used for the partial holiday weeks around Fall Break, Christmas, Spring Vacation, and at the End-of-the-Year. You can randomly pick words and rimes for these weeks to review.
SIGHT WORD AND COMMON RIMES PROGRAM: The words for each week are from the Fry Word Lists and 60 of the most common rimes. This can be a excellent way for students to practice these commonly used words in a fun and engaging way. Choose a few activities to use each day in guided reading, centers, individual work time, self-starters, or for homework. There are enough variations to rotate the activities so the students don’t get bored doing the same activity over and over.
HOMEWORK: Some teachers are always looking for engaging, fun ways to liven up their homework. These activities are a great way to do that. Choose a few different activities to print and send home each week for students to do at home. Some of the games are a great way to involve parents with their children’s school work.
