Idioms are widely used and create an obstacle for many students, especially English Language Learners. Using this chart, each student can keep track of the most common idioms and their meanings as provided by the teacher.
In my class, the first day of every week would start with a short idiom presentation, which includes the idiom itself, its meaning, and its use in a sentence. Students were required to record the information on their chart. I would include extra credit questions on quizzes or tests related to idioms, which is how I encouraged students to not just take good care of their chart but to study it occasionally.
