This FREE SAMPLER gives you a taste of the following Weekly Writing Prompts Program products:
Each semester product contains 180 prompts organized into 20 assignments (or weeks). The BUNDLE packages both semesters into 360 prompts organized into 40 assignments (or weeks).
This Weekly Writing Prompts Program is a great way for students to receive that much needed extra practice with writing and time to build writing fluency. The nine prompt options for each week allow students choice, flexibility, reflection, research, current events, English Language Arts terminology practice, interdisciplinary topics, personal writing, expository writing, and creative writing in an easy-to-understand format. This student writing “portfolio” also provides a wealth of writing which students can then select to revise a draft into a publishable copy if desired.
For teachers, this program allows weekly or biweekly formative assessment of student writing strengths and weaknesses to guide both whole class and individual writing. The scoring system included is designed to ease teacher paperwork and time, as the students contract for a score based on expectations for advanced, proficient, and partially proficient.
Please refer to the student handout in the preview, which outlines the expectations, procedures, and scoring system I use. While I have the students write by hand in a composition book or spiral notebook, this assignment could be easily adapted to something that fits the needs of your classroom and students, like Google Docs or another digital avenue for completion. You can use this program just as I have created, but you could obviously devise your own procedures, expectations, and scoring as desired.
Also perfect for daily warm-ups, task cards, homework, substitute teacher needs, and individual learning needs.
Please see the more detailed Teacher Notes section available in this product, as well as the other documents in this free sampler, for a better understanding of this program.
