This is the newsletter I use with my 4th grade students. The text boxes make it easy to edit without messing up the format. I change my weekly note to parents, quote, and the spelling words. The rest, with the exception of the date, stays the same. Very easy to keep up with when things get hectic in the classroom.
I print this back to back with the other page, the assignment calendar. I have the assignments written on the whiteboard in the classroom. Students come in each morning and copy the assignments I up on the board. At the end of the day we review the assignments and make a check mark (showing the assignment was completed at school) or draw an arrow over (showing that the assignment needs to be completed at home). This system works really well if you have parents check the assignment calendar each night. It gives parents a way to hold their child accountable. I also use a three-ring binder and all assignments are kept in the binder until the due date listed on the assignment calendar. This whole process helps students get organized and keep track of their work.
