This is a newspaper for students to fill out to bring home to the parents so they can see what they have been doing for the week.
It includes spots for:
-A word to describe their week
-Tell what they are doing in writing
-Tell what they are doing in reading
-Tell what they are doing in math
-5 things they learned during the week
-A goals for improvement for the next week
-Indicating whether or not they improved last weeks goal
-Parent signature to be sure the communication is getting home
I created a newspaper sheet for each week of the school year, indicating which week of the school year has just ended. I also created and included a newspaper that does not indicate the week but a spot to put the date that they fill out the newspaper.
I printed all of the weeks out for my school year and stapled them together. Every Friday morning I had the students fill out the week we were on and send it home with them to be signed for Monday.
I heard a lot of positive feedback from the parents. They enjoyed reading what was happening in the class coming from their child instead of a generic newsletter that did not show exactly what their child learned.
