This menu can be used for fiction and nonfiction books as there are mostly choices that can be used in both areas. I used this document in a 3 week cycle so students had to use a variety of options. It could also be used for an entire month.
Each day correlates to a level of Bloom's Taxonomy. On Monday, they start out at the first two levels and work their way to a higher level each day. Limited scaffolding is provided for some options, but you may need to teach specific mini-lessons in class for some skills.
This product includes 4 pages:
1: Menu page, including student guidelines.
2: Rubric and sample student response at each proficiency level (based on a 1-4 scale)
3: Monday-Wednesday Student Response Sheet
4: Thursday-Friday Student Response Sheet
I recommend double-sided printing for these 4 pages.
These are great formative assessments to check-in on students as readers and make a great addition to their reading portfolio or binder.
