These GREAT reading logs connect to one of the most popular reading programs in education today! Students can choose to read to themselves, read to someone else, or listen to reading. There are two levels of reading log.
Level I is for the beginning of the year when you are just trying to build stamina with your students. Students read for 15 minutes each night and have a parent or guardian initial the reading log.
Level II is for when you are ready for more accountability and practice responding to literature. Students have a log similar to the one they have been using, but NOW there is a place to write their literature response. In addition to the new look of the reading log, there are also two Tic-Tac-Toe charts with reading response prompts. One is for non-fiction and the other is for fiction. Students choose a prompt each night to write about.
Prompts are focused on different aspects of student reading: character, plot, setting, main idea, vocabulary, etc. Students are encouraged to write in complete sentences and use evidence from the text to support their ideas.
