What educators are saying

This is a great resource for my students to reflect on their performance. Easy to use and my students enjoyed this. Thanks!

Description

Reflection Binders help students track and chart their individual progress with learning goals, grades, behavior, and other skills. Students will create their own individual binders to chart growth and progress with: grades, homework, attendance, behavior, math skills, reading skills, writing skills, and goals/objectives.

These reflection binders are a great tool to help kids and young adults who receive special education, intervention supports, or just need motivation. This is also a great morning meeting, advisory activity, or for student led conferences.

How Does a Reflection Binder Work?

First, students will identify areas that they need to chart over time. This will be individualized based on student need. Once a week, an adult will sit down with the student to conference on their individual areas of need. At first, the teacher will need to walk students through charting their growth and progress. In time, though, students should take the lead. Students will write down data, chart progress on a graph, look at trends, and then complete a weekly reflection page.

Using Data to Chart Progress and Growth

Using a reflection binder helps keep track of critical data related to student growth and progress. Because the binders are individualized, you and each student can choose exactly what goes in the binder and how it is used. This can be a helpful addition to teach growth mindset, study skills, and promote positive behaviors. By looking at their own data and progress, students can learn to make positive changes for the future.

Binders can be brought to team meetings, parent conferences, and IEP meetings to show progress. This can be especially helpful for special education teachers, social workers, and interventionists working on individual skills. Additionally, it helps document strategies that are working and not working with students, which can be passed on from teacher to teach and even grade to grade.
