This STEAM enrichment activity is designed to take at least 5 sittings to complete. It included a story page to introduce the problem, and then a page fro each step of the STEAM process; Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, and Improve. This product also includes teacher pages to give tips and tricks to help students through each step. It also includes 2 different types of recording page; the first is a simple work sheet, the 2nd is designed for an interactive science journal.
This STEAM activity challenges students to design an house as if they were a colonial American.
This Project covers the following standards:
SC.2.L.17.1 Compare and contrast the basic needs that all living things, including humans, have for survival.
SS.2.A.2.3 Describe the impact of immigrants on the Native Americans.
SS.2.A.2.4 Explore ways the daily life of people living in Colonial America changed over time.
SL.1.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with partners about grade 2 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
a. Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions
b. Build on others' talk in conversations by linking their comments to the remarks of others.
c. Ask for clarification and further explanation as needed about the topics and texts under discussion.
SC.K2.CS-CC.1.4 Provide and accept constructive criticism on a collaborative project.
SC.K2.CS-CS.1.4 Solve questions individually and collaboratively using models.
SC.K2.CS-CS.2.3 Solve real life issues in science and engineering using conceptual thinking.
