I created these weekly spelling pages for students to use during center time. At the start of the school year we fill out the pages together on the smartboard so that students understand the directions and can complete each page independently the rest of the year. At the start of the week I copy and staple enough packets for each student - however, you could keep this as a smartboard center only.
Each page (5 total, one for each day) is geared towards a Pearson Reading Street spelling list of 12 words (that follow the principle and 2 bonus words).
Students are expected to do 1 page each day, when finished they partner up and check each others page.
I have also used these as morning work or seat work. What I love about them is that after using the packets, students have consistently done better when spelling.
Day 1 - students write their words for the week
Day 2 - ABC order
Day 3 - Rhyme Time - rhyming the spelling principle
Day 4 - Color coding vowels and consonants with blue and red crayon
Day 5 - Sentence practice - use spelling words to write a declarative, imperative, exclamatory, and interrogative sentence then "highlight" the spelling word in the sentence with a yellow crayon.
*Please note - some of the thumbnail images do not look like the pictures/text boxes line up correctly, however, this is only a glitch with the thumbnail images - I have downloaded it from several different computers as myself and using a friends account and it works/looks just fine :-)
