Do you have students who have a hard time retaining the content you teach? Do you have EOG's or other testing at the end of the year? I had problems with both of these things, so I created a weekly spiral review for my students.
I used these reviews by giving them to my students on Wednesday or Thursday. I have used them as morning work, a workshop/center activity or even as a time filler during the day. I then record the student date on the data sheet. This makes it easy for me to drive my small group (or review for the whole class) the next week. After using these I found my students did a much better job retaining the skills needed for EOG testing.
The pacing of these fit my counties schedule for introducing standards. We start at the beginning of the year review 2nd grade skills and then move onto some of the basic 3rd grade skills. At times, you might find a 2nd grade standard for review throughout the year, certain skills might not be in 3rd grade standards but pop up on our testing.
