These weekly voice lessons ask students to analyze prose excerpts and study an author's unique style and voice. Students must then replicate that particular voice in a weekly writing assignment, which is best shared in a blog or discussion post. 18 unique excerpts are included, each taken from the first chapter of a celebrated novel or nonfiction work. The excerpts range in time period and country of origin to expose students to different writing voices. An editable scoring rubric is included in this resource, as well as a teacher guide* to assist in your scoring. This resource includes access to interactive digital versions on Google Slides as well for those teaching virtually.
*Please note, because of the open-ended and creative nature of student responses a formal answer key is not included, but I've attempted to guide your scoring as much as possible
These resources pair well with my AP Lit Task cards, especially if you want to emphasize a certain Enduring Understanding or Skill in a particular excerpt.
