Here is a way to make writing homework easier for students, parents, and teachers!
This Writing Homework Portfolio gives parents the help and tips they need to support their young writer. The booklet is printed and given to the student at the beginning of each quarter. Students are responsible for maintaining the book. They have it with them so they can work on the writing when ever they set aside time to do homework. Parents have a rubric checklist to go over for each story. This helps them see what skills their child is picking up and what skills still need support.
I have my students bring me the homework packet every Friday morning. I read the work as they come in and we talk about a GLOW that they used in the story. I hand them the packet back immediately so they have it to work on when they need it.
Be sure to PRINT the pages F/B and staple it down the left hand side.
