Weekly Writing organized from Brainstorming to Final Copy.
This packet is designed to be used for a week. I assigned it as homework on Monday, Final Copy due on Friday.
I have included the following steps:
Monday - Brainstorming
Tuesday - Prewriting (2 options, you choose which one you like best)
Wednesday - Rough Draft (broken down into Topic Sentence-Juicy Details-Closing)
Thursday - Final Copy (2 options)
I have also included an Editing checklist.
Weekly Writing is something I assigned each week in my third grade classroom beginning in January. It is designed to be written over the week with a complete paragraph due on Friday. I sent it as homework, but it could certainly be used as an in-class assignment.
This topic is Wants vs. Needs.
A need is something you have to have, something you can’t do without.
A want is something you would like to have. It is not absolutely necessary.
Food is something you need to survive, but depending on particular food (ice cream) it becomes a want.
Do you ever confuse something you need for something you want? This week think about what it is you really need, versus things you want.
In your everyday life, what are your wants versus your needs? Do you have more wants or more needs?
